InnovaFood AB was founded in 2010 by Prof Inger Björck and Dr Elin Östman, two food and nutrition scientists in charge of numerous research projects within the Antidiabetic Food Center at Lund University, Sweden.

Ever since, the company has been a hub for patented food concepts and license agreements that have resulted in products like Good Idea and MOOS Foods. Both are examples of the ambition of translating science-based and IP-protected innovations in food, to commercial products targeting the public.

Since Dr Elin took over as the sole owner of the company, the main focus of InnovaFood has expanded from development of food concepts for facilitation of glycemic control and appetite, to also include projects including aspects of circularity.

About us

Elin Östman

Assoc prof Elin Östman (EÖ) has been involved in research on glycaemic regulation since 1998. With a previous focus on the bioavailability of starch and its effects on postprandial blood glucose and hormonal responses, the research of EÖ has broadened to include how proteins and amino acids influence glucose and insulin responses. In addition, EÖ has an increasing focus on the relation between postprandial glucose profile and appetite regulation.

EÖ is a project leader within the Antidiabetic Food Centre at Lund University and has national and international collaborations with; clinically and experimentally oriented groups in diabetes research; scientists within food chemistry and food technology; technical researchers making mathematical modelling of glucose responses to foods; and food-related industries with an interest in food products with added health values.
